About me
If you ever find yourself struggling with your emotions, feeling stressed or overwhelmed, or perhaps you're not sure how you are feeling or why, you are not alone. My name is Jack Norwood, I'm a psychotherapeutic counsellor and I'm here to help.
My Approach
Working with a pluralistic and integrative approach, I understand that different clients might benefit from different types of interventions at different times. Pluralistic therapy looks at all aspects of your past, present and future. It values the diversity of various therapeutic approaches and we will aim to integrate them in a way that is most helpful and meaningful to you.
What Will I Experience with Pluralistic Therapy?
At the core of pluralism is person-centred therapy as it allows you to explore and understand your feelings in the present. Sometimes, however, we may need to identify past traumas, your upbringing, or how you've been treated by others, and so psychodynamic therapy might be right for you. Other times, you may need the structured approach of CBT, which focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. Pluralism and its adaptive form of therapy can give you a wholesome understanding and appreciation of who you are. This can lead to profound insights, eliminating your self-doubt, enabling you to find confidence and peace, and giving you the awareness and ability to better improve your life and future.
Your Private, Safe Space
I'm a psychotherapeutic counsellor which means I am dedicated to understanding everything about you - your needs, your experiences, and all the complex layers of who you are. Whether we meet face-to-face at one of my clinics or if we connect online, I will provide a warm and private space where we can work together to try and tackle the challenges that might be holding you back and discover ways to help you move forward. Throughout our journey, you'll have the non-judgmental and empathetic support you need. Sometimes it can be uncomfortable but other times it can be liberating. The important thing is that we face your struggles together and find the best ways for you to move through them.

Training, qualifications & experience
My background:
I've had a keen interest in anxiety and trauma all of my life. With my grandfather, a WW2 veteran and who suffered from PTSD, I've also had many friends and close family suffer from anxiety, fear and the compounded psychological effects this brings. This experience over the years in observing the struggles of others trying to manage their problem has given me many insights into how anxiety can develop and manifest into more complex issues.
My experience:
After 3 years of training as a psychotherapeutic counsellor with a pluralistic focus, I worked as a private therapist at organisations specialising in anxiety and depression, as well as at a dedicated centre for chronic illness. This has equipped me with the expertise in addressing a wide range of challenges, not only generalised stress, anxiety, the management of chronic illness, and grief and loss but working with these clients to further help them discover purpose, meaning, and their authentic desires in life. Much of the work includes relationship difficulties, identity exploration, self-discovery and life purpose, including helping young men from challenging family backgrounds, those navigating marital and relationship issues, and individuals with low self-esteem, helping them find a positive identity and the confidence to communicate effectively.
My training:
- Level 3 - Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills
- Level 4 - Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills
- Level 4 - Diploma in Counselling Skills
- Stress, Anxiety and Self-defeating Behaviours
- Relationships, Bereavement and Loss
- Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Pluralistic Therapy)
Therapy that's meaningful to you:
I keep a very personable approach built on empathy and trust, working privately with my clients so you can feel safe, heard and understood. Working with a pluralistic approach means that I tailor my practice to you, the individual. Rather than choosing one approach or style, pluralism means that the best results in therapy should acknowledge various approaches at any one time, recognising that you may require different methods of understanding and different approaches to therapy depending on you as an individual and your needs at that time. This means that your therapy journey is focussed on what resonates with you and is meaningful to you. It's with pluralistic therapy where I believe long-lasting changes can occur.
"Effective therapy involves meeting the individual where they are, understanding their unique perspective, and guiding them towards growth and healing." - Carl Rogers
