About me

I have always been drawn to supporting people who have experienced difficult childhood relationships. Maybe you grew up not quite knowing where you stood, experienced a lot of instability, or you learned to navigate and survive relationships that felt chaotic and unpredictable.

These early experiences don't just stay in the past, they shape how we relate to others, how we respond to the world around us, and how we come to see ourselves. You might notice this in patterns that feel hard to shift, in relationships that feel too intense or too distant, or feeling stuck without fully understanding why.

In therapy, we can take time to make sense of these patterns together, not to fix or rush them away. I want to help you understand how they developed and the role they played in helping you get through life. Often, the ways we learned to cope made sense at the time, even if they no longer feel helpful now.

I work by paying close attention to what feels important to you, allowing space for things to unfold naturally. There is certainly no expectation to have everything figured out or to explain things perfectly. We can sit with uncertainty, make sense of what's there, and begin to notice things differently over time.

My therapy service River and Stone was created from the belief that meaningful change doesn't come from force. Like water shaping stone, change often happens gradually, through steady and consistent experiences that allow something new to emerge.

If you're considering therapy, you're welcome to get in touch to see if this feels like the right fit for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy with Contemporary Creative Approaches.

Alongside my therapy training, I have a background in residential childcare, where I supported children and young people who had experienced abuse, neglect and early relational trauma. This work has deeply shaped my understanding of how early experiences can impact emotional development, relationships and a sense of self over time.

My approach is person-centred, which means I see you as the expert in your own life. Rather than directing or diagnosing you, I am to work alongside you, paying close attention to your experiences and supporting you to make sense of them in your own way.

I take a flexible approach to therapy. For some, this might involve talking things through and making sense of experiences with words. For others, it can be helpful to use more creative ways of exploring thoughts and feelings. We can find what feels most useful for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
