About me
We all have ‘mental health’ in the same way that we have physical health and just as our physical health can face challenges throughout our life, so too can our mental health, that doesn’t mean that there is ‘anything wrong with you’ just that your mental health might benefit from some attention.
I work as a humanistic counsellor with an extensive history of working and teaching in secondary mental health and more recently, working within a hospice setting. I am a member of BACP and an accredited member of NCS with almost 20 years of experience.
Feeling that you are unable to manage your own emotions, or make sense of them, can be overwhelming.
I can offer a safe space where you can begin to become more familiar with your feelings and to recognise that we all have feelings and all feelings have a purpose. How we react to situations will vary from person to person, and the therapy I offer will be tailored to your needs.
It may be that you have been plunged into a new experience that feels uncomfortable, and out of control, and you are trying to make sense of yourself and your situation, or searching for some coping skills to help you to change your responses.
I have worked extensively with anxiety, in its many forms whether generalised or social anxiety and using different CBT approaches have been able to address this anxiety and change the behaviours around it.
I also work with people who are bereaved or who are facing the bereavement of a loved one. I work with people who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness and I work with carers.
