About me

Hello and welcome my name is Isabel I have a Private Practice in Arundel, West Sussex, I offer counselling to suit your needs either face to face or online at a time and pace that works for you.

Life can be challenging at times, and counselling can provide a supportive, safe, and confidential space to explore relationships and events in our lives that might make us feel overwhelmed or helpless. Taking to a trained and experienced professional can help us make sense of our experiences and find ways to move towards a more settled and secure future. The journey can help you have a greater understanding of yourself and fresh perspectives enabling you to build resilience and make meaningful choices. that work for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I specialise in working with those who have experienced a traumatic event or series of events.  At some point in our lives, we will be faced with experiences or have been subjected to ongoing or multiple events that have impacted our ability to cope and can leave us with an overwhelming sense of hopelessness.

We will work on a phased approach to develop post-traumatic growth and resilience and it will help you to develop a better understanding of yourself,  the world around you, and how you can build that brighter and positive future.

I recognise that one size does not fit all, and we will work together to consider the right approaches, techniques and processes for you, work at a pace that works for you, and help you put effective strategies in place to deal with the feelings of depression and anxiety that often accompany trauma. My special interests are working with issues around confidence and self-esteem, sometimes struggles around these issues mean you can feel isolated, unappreciated, and unheard. In our sessions, you can explore why you experience these feelings, and I can help you find your inner voice so you can start to lead the life you want. Honouring and valuing your uniqueness and finding your place in the world.

If you would like to know more about therapy and how a confidential and safe space where you can feel free to express and explore your experiences, can help you gain a sense of closure and find ways forward please do get in touch for an initial informal chat.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Alongside my Private Practice I currently work with Frontline 19 providing counselling to NHS and other frontline staff during this pandemic. I am a Counselling Tutor and have many years’ experience as a trainer and coach. I am a BACP registered therapist and adhere to their Ethical Framework and have regular supervision to support my safe practice as a counsellor.

I know from personal experience taking that first step can be daunting but as a recent client shared ‘Thank you so much for your help and support and for being a kind and compassionate listening ear. Being able to speak openly to you has hugely alleviated the worries that I had been carrying. You’ve given me the practical tools and kind words that I needed to start living in the present again, and I can’t thank you enough.’ Having someone there for you can make a huge difference. Please do get in touch by email or phone and I am very happy to have an initial chat to go through how Counselling would work for you, and to understand what you would like to get out of it. I look forward to hearing from you!
