About me

I am an Integrative Counsellor and my goal as a therapist is to provide a safe non-judgemental space, where my counselling clients from Shrewsbury, Shropshire and online can feel encouraged and supported through life’s challenges. Whatever you are going through, whether it is depression, anxiety, relationship problems, family problems, separation or divorce, emotional difficulties or bereavement, there is hope.

It takes courage to accept that you might need help when you are feeling overwhelmed or going through life changes, and greater courage to take the first steps in contacting a therapist to seek the emotional support you feel you need. You can be reassured that whatever it is you may be feeling or want to talk about that you, your thoughts and your feelings will be welcome here, no matter how difficult things may seem.

In-person therapy sessions are held in Shrewsbury and online via videocall or telephone.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am trained and experienced in using a range of approaches including Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Attachment and Systemic. When we meet we will discuss your goals for therapy and agree how to work together to meet your needs.

I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. I completed my professional training on a BACP accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling at Staffordshire University and a British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited Masters in Psychology at Hertfordshire University. I am a member of both the BACP and the BPS. I complete my CPD requirements and my work is regularly supervised as per the requirements of my professional membership bodies.

I have extensive experience of online counselling in the third sector as well as face-to-face general counselling practise in a GP surgery.

Recent CPD includes: Trauma Related Complex Dissociation, Child Safeguarding & Protection, Grief works: Stories of life, death and surviving, Domestic & Sexual Violence Awareness, Gender & Sexual Identity Awareness.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
