About me
Are you finding that alcohol, substances, or certain behaviours are becoming harder to control, or that anxiety or low mood are starting to take their toll?
You might feel stuck, conflicted, or unsure what needs to change. Part of you may want things to be different, while another part feels uncertain or not ready. This is more common than you might think.
I have extensive experience working with:
- Alcohol and substance use
- Gambling and behavioural addictions
- Anxiety, stress, and low mood
- Behaviour change and relapse prevention
I have particular experience working where addiction and mental health difficulties overlap. These challenges are often closely linked, and it can feel difficult to know where to begin.
I offer a calm, non-judgemental space where we can explore what’s driving these patterns and work towards change in a way that feels realistic and manageable.
My approach is collaborative, I won’t tell you what to do or judge your choices. Instead, we’ll work together to understand what’s driving your current patterns and what you want to be different.
I draw on motivational interviewing and evidence-based approaches to help you:
- make sense of patterns around substance use or behaviour
- explore mixed feelings about change
- build motivation and confidence
- make practical, sustainable changes
You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting. We can begin wherever you are.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an experienced addiction and mental health practitioner, with over 20 years’ experience supporting individuals with substance use, behavioural addictions, anxiety, and depression.
I have completed postgraduate training in addiction and counselling, including a Diploma in Substance Misuse, an MSc in the Clinical and Public Health Aspects of Addiction, and an MSc in Addiction Psychology and Counselling.
I am accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in line with their ethical framework.
My work has involved supporting people at different stages of change, from those who are just beginning to question their relationship with alcohol or other behaviours, through to those working towards longer-term recovery.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and regular supervision to ensure my practice remains safe, effective, and responsive to clients’ needs.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, especially if you’re feeling unsure, stuck, or not quite ready for change. You don’t need to have everything figured out before getting in touch.
Some people come to therapy knowing they want to stop or change a behaviour, while others are simply trying to understand things more clearly. Both are completely valid starting points.
My aim is to offer a space where you can speak openly, without fear of judgement, and take things at a pace that feels right for you.
If you’re considering getting in touch, you’re very welcome to get in touch to arrange a brief introductory call.
