About me

Welcome to my practice in Harker, Carlisle, where you will find a warm, professional and supportive space to explore whatever may be affecting your wellbeing. I am a counsellor and clinical supervisor with over 30 years’ experience working in a variety of settings. I hold a PGDip, am MBACP (Accredited) and I am a certified online and telephone counsellor. Appointments are available face to face, online, or by telephone.

I work with young people and adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including trauma, anxiety, depression, eating distress, addiction, bereavement, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, domestic abuse, sexual violence, child sexual abuse, family issues, criminal justice involvement, work-related stress, and major life transitions such as menopause or children leaving home.

My approach is inclusive, client-centred and tailored to your individual needs. I offer a confidential and non-judgemental environment where you can feel safe, heard and respected. I work integratively, grounded in a person-centred framework, and draw on additional training in trauma and attachment. Together we can explore unhelpful patterns, build understanding, and develop healthier ways of coping and moving forward.

I believe in the restorative value of nature, movement and animals, and at Fae Therapy you are welcome to bring a well-behaved support animal to sessions.

I offer both short-term counselling focused on specific concerns and longer-term therapy for more complex issues. I feel privileged to do this work and am committed to building a trusting, supportive therapeutic relationship.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
