About me

I am a fully qualified Counsellor; CBT Therapist; EMDR Therapist; Therapeutic Supervisor and Hypnotherapist, and I have been in practice since 1999. I am also a qualified Drug & Alcohol Professional. I am a Registered Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, a member of the EMDR Association UK & Ireland and hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate.

I offer Integrative Therapy to children, adolescents and adults for a wide range of issues such as stress management, anxiety disorders, confidence and self-esteem issues, body image, self-harming behaviours, depression, addictions, bereavement, relationship difficulties, and work related issues. I have expertise in working with clients who have experienced trauma, whether through recent or historical events and have specialised in working with survivors of sexual violence – focusing treatment on recovery from trauma, and the development of positive coping strategies. I work with my clients to create an individual plan which is tailored to their specific needs and use a range of interventions to help each person move forward in their lives.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing) is an integrative psychotherapy approach designed for working with distressing or traumatic memories. EMDR therapy looks to help you properly process these traumatic memories, reducing their impact and helping you to develop healthy coping mechanisms. This is done through an eight-phase approach to address the past, present, and future aspects of a stored memory using bi-lateral stimulation. EMDR is the NICE recommended treatment for PTSD, and is also very effective with anxiety disorders; phobias; and low self-esteem.

Trauma Focused CBT for Children & Families provides a pathway for children and adolescents, alongside their parents to work through the impact of traumatic events.

Life Skills Coaching uses a solution focused approach to make changes to unhelpful lifestyle patterns, while identifying and creating new possibilities for the future.

Hypnotherapy uses therapeutic interventions to address issues whilst the client is in an enhanced state of mental and physical relaxation, whereby the subconscious is able to communicate with the conscious mind.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
