About me

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. You may know that something doesn’t feel right, but not know exactly where to start or what you need. My aim is to offer a space where you can feel comfortable and accepted.

I’m an experienced counsellor and place a lot of importance on the relationship we build together. I work primarily from a person-centred approach, which means I will meet you where you are and take the time to understand your experiences without judgement. I don’t believe counselling should be a one-size-fits-all process, so I adapt the way I work depending on what you need from our sessions.

I have experience working with adults who have experienced childhood trauma and sexual violence, as well as those struggling with anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. I understand that experiences from our past can continue to affect how we feel about ourselves, our relationships and the way we cope with life in the present.

You may find yourself feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or unsure of why things feel so difficult. Perhaps you’re finding relationships hard, struggling with your body image or feeling that your usual ways of coping aren’t working anymore. Through counselling, we can work together to understand what you’re experiencing, develop greater insight and explore ways of moving forward that feel right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an enhanced DBS and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I am qualified to BSc (Hons) level in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My training began with a foundation in person-centred counselling and continued through further study and professional development, giving me the opportunity to develop a flexible approach, depending on what feels most useful to you.

Trauma has been a particular area of interest throughout my training and professional experience. I have undertaken training in working with survivors of sexual violence and childhood trauma, with an emphasis on understanding the impact these experiences can have and offering support in a way that feels safe.

In my work with survivors of sexual violence, I completed Level 3 training and supported clients who were seeking counselling while also navigating the criminal justice process.

I have also worked within the care and fostering community, supporting adults to understand the effects of childhood trauma through an attachment-focused approach.

Alongside this, I also have experience working with neurodivergent clients and understand the importance of building a trusting therapeutic relationship by taking the time to understand each person and their unique needs.

Ultimately, my role is not to tell you what you should do. It is to offer you a space where we can make sense of things together, helping you develop a greater understanding of yourself and move towards the changes you want to make.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
