About me

Hello, I’m Helen and I help adults to make positive changes to the way they currently feel or behave. Whatever you are experiencing, there's no need to go through it alone, I can help you if you’re struggling with something difficult in your life by providing:

  • A space to talk through troubling issues
  • Help in recognising how your past experiences impact your life today which may be    resulting in feelings of emptiness, anxiety or depression
  • A place of safety in which you can explore and process traumatic events
  • Guidance on personal development, in order to build self-awareness and enable more choice

It might be that you are unable to change the situation you are in, but I whole-heartedly believe there is hope. Experience tells me that counselling can help you to change the way you feel about it. Just imagine that sense of freedom and how different life may be for you if you were no longer consumed by hard to bear thoughts and feelings.

My approach

I am a BACP Accredited counsellor and psychotherapist committed to providing you with a confidential and supportive space; a place where you can explore the issues behind unwanted feelings or unhelpful behaviours. My role is to actively help you draw on your inner resources so that you can find a way through your problems with the aim of living your life more fully. Sometimes just having the space to talk and to really be heard and understood will be enough to help lead you towards clarity, other times we might need to delve a little deeper.

I often receive comments from clients following our first session that they find me approachable and easy to talk to. They don't feel judged or criticised and report relief that they are able to explore their true and honest thoughts and feelings.

I believe passionately that the quality of the therapeutic relationship between you and your counsellor has a bearing on the work you do together, which is why it is important you find a therapist you feel comfortable with.

How long will you need to come for

We can work together on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period. The number of sessions is dependent upon your needs and always remains your decision. Appointments are on a weekly basis, usually at the same time and on the same day each week.

Our first session

We meet at my practice in Leatherhead where we can talk about what you feel you need help with. I will answer any questions you may have about the counselling process and our work together. During this first session you will be able to get a sense of whether we are a good fit for each other and decide if you would like to continue from there.

Where and when I work

My practice is in Leatherhead and has secure free parking. I can offer appointments from 8.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on Saturday.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BA (Honours) First Class Degree in Counselling (Greenwich University)
  • FdSc Integrative Counselling (Greenwich University)
  • BACP Registered Counsellor/Psychotherapist
  • Certificate in Working with Trauma
  • Current DBS certificate (Dislcosure and Barring Service)

I currently work from my private practice in Leatherhead. I also have several years experience as a listening volunteer with Samaritans.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.


British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

My fees are £45 per 50 minutes session for weekdays and £50 for evenings and weekends.


Appointments offered from 8.30 a.m to 3:30 p.m Monday to Friday and on Saturdays between 10.00 a.m and 1 p.m.
