About me
I am a qualified psychotherapist with 34 years of experience. I work in Cambridge and am registered with the UKCP. I provide both short-term and long-term therapy for adults, couples and adolescents. I offer an initial assessment to gather information, explore your concerns and collaboratively decide what might be right for you.
I am a humanistic/integrative therapist. I trained at the Gestalt Center in London, as well as completing a two-year groupwork training.
My experience working as a therapist has been extensive, working with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, loss, relationships and gender issues. I have also worked within a family therapy team for three years.
I now have a private practice. My aim is to always provide an open, supportive and ethical service. I aim to enable exploration and a greater awareness of ourselves and our patterns; thereby creating greater choice and freedom in how we live.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked within psychiatry for 15 years, including 3 years in the psychotherapy department. I have also worked within the addiction services. My last post in the NHS was within a hospice and oncology setting, providing a psychological service for patients, carers and the bereaved.
During my time in the NHS, I had the privilege of working with many different professionals who were trained in various modalities – from creative therapists (art/music/dance) to psychodynamic/analytic therapists – this further influenced and enriched my original training. I am very interested in creativity in all its forms and for 3 years ran a group integrating dance and therapy. I have also co-facilitated an arts-therapy group.
As a member of UKCP I abide by their standards and ethical framework.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
