About me

Hi, my name is Heather and I'm an integrative counsellor offering support in St Helens and Warrington town centres. My work encompasses aspects of person centred, cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic theories to allow me to work flexibly to meet a range of client needs.

It can be difficult reaching out when we feel we need support and counselling is no exception. I do my best to create a space for my clients to feel safe, accepted and encouraged to share whatever has been worrying them. People seek counselling for a wide range of reasons and I aim to be there with my clients so that they can explore what's brought them to me to deepen their understanding and to find solutions that suit them.

You may not know where to start, or have the words you need to explain what you're struggling with and that's okay too. Counselling should always be done at a pace that's right for you and cover the things that are important to you, regardless of what others may say.

While I'm happy to support clients with many different struggles, I have most experience currently with supporting people who are neurodivergent and people in the LGBTQ+ community.

If you're interested in trying out sessions with me, I'd love to hear from you. I'd like to start with a 30 minute phone call or face to face conversation where we can discuss what you'd like to work on and if there are any ways of working you're most interested in. I can provide face to face sessions in Warrington or St Helens or online sessions through Teams or Whatsapp.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling from a course partnered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Thanks to this training, I'm able to draw on a range of theories when working with clients to create an approach that better suits each one.

I am also trained in suicide prevention.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Fees

£55.00 per session

Additional information

My fees are £55 for 50 minute sessions, other than the initial 30 minute conversation.

I'm happy to offer reduced fees for those with low incomes, students, trainee counsellors and OAPs. If there is a reason you feel you would struggle with this fee, we can discuss this and see if a reduced fee would be best for you.

Further information

Our world is full of expectations, whether our own or from others, and those expectations can weigh us down or keep us trapped in boxes. Sometimes we all need a space where we can let go of what, or who, we feel we should be and just let ourselves be whoever we already were all along. A space we can say what we need to say and express the parts of us we always wanted to show but never felt we could.

I'm here for those times, to learn about the whole person, outside the boxes and the expectations.
