About me

Thank you for visiting my profile, my name is Haylie and I am a Person Centred counsellor based in West Sussex.

I have always been a good listener and believe it's because I am genuinely interested in peoples stories. Everyone is different and everyone has a different way of navigating through life.  For me, every person and their story needs to be valued.

I know how beneficial counselling can be. When I was struggling with anxiety, I took the step and began talking therapy. Through long term work I was able to lift the weight that I had been carrying for so long. I was left feeling lighter and 'free'.

It was from this point on, that I wanted to take my listening skills further and support others to overcome whatever may be troubling them. I began training to become a qualified counsellor.

A few years on and I still find it a privilege to walk beside people and be a part of their journey.

Counselling

I am a Person Centered counsellor, which means that I have a non-directive approach. I believe you are the expert on you. Our worlds are full of friends, family and professionals ready to give advice. Which can be very helpful and needed at times. Our sessions will be a space for you to work out how you feel, and relate to the world around you.

Whatever your reasons for seeking counselling may be,  if you are feeling that it is preventing you from moving forward or is becoming an obstacle between family and friends, I would like to offer the space to explore it with you. It is your own unique experience. I would like to hear what life is like for you.

By offering a space which is authentic, non-judgemental and accepting, I can help you explore your own thoughts and feelings.

I have worked with various issues, which include anxiety, depression, family dynamics, relationships, suicidal thoughts plus many others.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
