About me
Hello and welcome to my profile.
I’m Hayley and a qualified integrative counsellor based in Stockport and Oldham. I offer day and evening appointments for individual face to face and online counselling.
I can offer you a confidential space to talk, a space to think, a space and a time for you.
I’m passionate about connecting with people. It has been a privilege to have worked with and supported children, young people and their families in my career as a teacher before specialising in supporting people through counselling.
How counselling can help
We can spend much of our time thinking about others, helping others, looking after others, but what about us? What about you?
I understand the pressures we can experience at times throughout our lives. Life can seem overwhelming, with little time or space to consider how we are feeling or how we might overcome the challenges that cause us sadness, confusion, anxiety, anger or doubt.
You might be deciding to seek counselling for a variety of reasons including relationship issues, bereavement and loss, depression and anxiety, current life events or the impact of earlier childhood trauma.
You may have experienced the benefits of counselling before or this may be your first time. It might feel daunting to meet and trust someone new, but by taking this first step might help you to focus, make changes and unlock the possibilities to becoming mentally healthier and happier.
People would describe me as warm, genuine and non judgemental. I’m passionate about offering you empathy and compassion and a chance for you to explore why you might be feeling lost or stuck.
By offering a different perspective, I can help you to find your own solutions to your difficulties and empower you to find ‘the you, in you.’
Working together can enable us to develop a clearer understanding of your present concerns and barriers.
As an integrative counsellor I am trained in humanistic, behavioural and psychodynamic modalities such as Person Centred therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis (TA).
Training, qualifications & experience
I am fully insured and a member of the British Association of Counselling [BACP], working within their ethical guidelines and have an up-to-date enhanced DBS.
My previous career as a teacher has helped me to recognise neurodiversity and the unique and natural ways our brains work. I have an understanding of autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and other neurological conditions.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

What to expect from counselling
Counselling sessions will normally be weekly and can be short or long term, depending on the issues you would like resolving and how deep they run. Don’t worry if you’re not sure how many sessions you’ll need as we can talk this through. I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation so that we can begin to understand if I am the right counsellor for you.
If we decide to continue our work together I offer day and evening 50-minute individual face to face appointments. If you live further afield or if you feel therapy will work best for you in the comfort of your own surroundings, I also offer online (remote) sessions. I also offer ‘walk and talk’ therapy since some people find therapy outdoors to be more therapeutic for them.
Sessions are £50
