About me
If you are struggling with emotional or physical pain, stress, depression or anxiety, I can provide a safe and confidential space to begin your recovery. As an integrative psychotherapist, I am able to tailor my approach to fit your needs. Some people want help to talk through unprocessed experiences or make sense of painful relationships, others need practical tools to help them to manage painful feelings and thoughts that prevent them from living a meaningful life.
Our first session will be an introductory one where we begin the process of getting to know each other and decide how we will work together. I don't have any expectations of what you should say or how you should be in your introductory session. You can share anything at all that is on your mind.
As well as working with individuals, I am also an experienced couples' therapist, trained in Emotionally Focussed Therapy for couples (EFT). I help couples to change the painful cycles they get caught in, and to communicate differently with each other.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an accredited psychotherapist and trained EFT couples' therapist with over 10 years of clinical experience.
Qualifications: I have an Masters degree in Integrative Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. I am also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. In recent years, I have completed trainings in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which have provided me with further tools to help my clients manage problematic thinking and painful feelings.
Accreditation and memberships: I am an accredited member of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy). I am also a member of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and the BEFT Centre (British Emotionally Focused Therapy Centre).
Experience: I started my career as a psychotherapist working in Brighton at the Rock Clinic, an association of psychotherapists and counsellors that provide accessible therapy to the residents of Brighton and Hove, where I was based for seven years. I also volunteered as a Youth Advice Centre Counsellor at the YMCA in Brighton. I now work in private practice from my home in Hastings where I see individuals and couples in-person and online via Zoom and Skype.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
