Hannya Melrose MA UKCP
6 Belmont Rd
I offer one to one coaching & therapy from Stroud in Gloucestershire, including sessions for couples.
I also offer individual sessions of TRE ( Tension or Trauma Releasing Exercises) & group sessions on a monthly basis.
I run day & weekend workshops for women on the theme of self-love & empowerment.
In addition I facilitate small group sessions for adults wishing to resolve issues around their prenatal life or birth experience. These sessions are called 'womb surround' workshops & are based on the pioneering work of Dr Ray Castellino in the resolution of early trauma.
I recommend at least 4-6 coaching sessions on a fortnightly basis; however this can be decided together.
Psychotherapy work is on a weekly basis, for at least 6 sessions.
I offer a free introductory session before starting work together.
I have worked for over 15 years as a body-oriented practitioner, specialising in prenatal/ birth & attachment issues, relationship struggles, sexual trauma, psycho-spiritual crisis & life transitions. More recently I trained as a TRE ( Tension or Trauma Releasing Exercises) provider & facilitate the safe release of anxiety, stress & trauma from the nervous system. TRE can be done both in one to one sessions & in small groups, which I offer on a monthly basis in Stroud. It is important to work somatically to alleviate anxiety or panic symptoms as there is an accumulation of past experience/ energy in the system which needs releasing.
My main trainings were mindfulness based & in client work, I support the cultivation of awareness & acceptance of whatever is going on in the moment. Being able to access resources & support internally & in relationship with others is an important part of the healing journey, allowing for the release of limiting beliefs & patterns.
In the last few years I have started focusing more on work with teenage girls & women around self-love & empowerment. This incorporates menstrual cycle awareness & an inquiry into one's deeper desires & sense of purpose for one's life. I also work with women around the menopause, particularly in understanding the deep physiological & psycho-emotional process they are negotiating within. This transition can be challenging to negotiate for many reasons; it may be that earlier stages of development still need some resolution.
I feel passionately about supporting women to lead empowered & fulfilled lives.
Wherever you are on your life journey, psychological & emotional support is invaluable in the process of moving forward with greater ease & confidence.
Please do contact me to talk over your concerns & needs.
Training, qualifications & experience
I originally trained in Core Process Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute in Devon and am accredited with UKCP. I have over 15 years experience working individually with clients. I have also trained & worked as a doula around pregnancy & birth, with couples & with parents & their children.
I have a particular interest in working with early trauma in the body and have trained with pioneers in the field of prenatal and birth psychology from the States, such as William Emerson, Ray Castellino and Karlton Terry. In 2001-3 I also trained in craniosacral therapy & in TRE in order to deepen my understanding and develop more skills in working with trauma. This work is influenced by Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing.
Womb surround workshops are an incredibly powerful way to explore & heal the impact of early (implicit & unconscious) experiences on one's relationship to self, others and the wider environment. Individuals, pregnant women, couples, health professionals, therapists and early years educators can also benefit from this work. I trained with Dr Ray Castellino & offer day/ weekend workshops in Stroud.
