About me
Hello, I’m Gurleen, a psychodynamic psychotherapist here to support you on a profound journey of self-exploration, healing, and personal growth. My specialisation lies in helping individuals navigate complex issues of identity—be it sexual/gender identity, racial and inter-racial identity, or dual identities—as well as guiding those who feel displaced as immigrants or expats. Additionally, I focus on self-empowerment, helping people recover from traumatic experiences, toxic relationships, and childhood trauma.
About Me:
Think of me as a guide, helping you make sense of the intricate threads of your life story. I believe that our past experiences shape who we are today, and together, we can unravel the patterns that influence your current thoughts and behaviours. Whether you’re facing struggles with identity or looking to heal from past trauma, I offer a safe, compassionate space to help you understand yourself more deeply and build a fulfilling future.
My Background:
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in social work, where I gained valuable insights into family dynamics and their impact on mental well-being. This experience shaped my understanding of how family relationships and upbringing affect our sense of self and emotional health. I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals from many different walks of life, deepening my appreciation for the unique challenges everyone faces.
The Heart of Our Work Together:
At the core of psychodynamic therapy is the relationship we build together. I create a confidential, non-judgmental space where you can safely explore your thoughts and feelings. We’ll work collaboratively to uncover the unconscious patterns that may be holding you back, allowing you to develop new insights and tools to face life’s challenges.
Specialising in Identity Exploration and Self-Empowerment:
A significant part of my work revolves around helping people explore and embrace their identities. Whether you are navigating sexual or gender identity, racial or inter-racial identity, or feeling caught between dual cultural identities, I’m here to support you. I’m also deeply passionate about working with immigrants and expats who may be experiencing a sense of displacement or struggling to balance different cultural expectations.
In addition to identity work, I specialise in self-empowerment. Many of my clients come to me after difficult experiences—whether it’s recovering from a toxic or abusive relationship, healing from family trauma, or dealing with the aftermath of emotional abuse. I’m here to help you regain your sense of strength and self-worth, providing the support you need to reclaim control over your life and future.
Healing from Trauma:
If you’re carrying the weight of trauma—whether from family, past relationships, or other sources—our sessions will provide a space for you to process those experiences at your own pace. We’ll explore the impact these traumas have had on you, offering a path toward healing, recovery, and empowerment.
Taking the First Step:
Our journey begins with an initial consultation, which is part assessment, part friendly conversation. This 15-minute session, is a chance for us to get to know each other and explore how I can support you. There’s no pressure to continue if it doesn’t feel like the right fit—this is your space to decide what works best for you.
How We Progress:
Therapy is a gradual, individualized process, and we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. We’ll meet for weekly 50-minute sessions at a set time, providing you with a consistent space for reflection, growth, and healing. Whether our work together lasts a few months or longer, we’ll take the time needed to deeply understand and resolve the issues you’re facing.
My Commitment to You:
As a registered member of the BACP, I adhere to the highest ethical standards and continuously pursue professional development to ensure I provide the best care for you. Your well-being is my top priority, and I’m here to guide you through every step of your therapeutic journey.
Let’s Connect:
If you’re ready to begin this journey of self-discovery, healing, and empowerment, or if you’d simply like to ask more questions, please reach out. I’m here to listen and support you in taking that first step toward change and growth.
Together, we can uncover the strengths you already possess and find a path toward a brighter, more empowered future.
I look forward to working with you.
Warmly,
Gurleen, Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Counsellor

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
