About me

I specialise in helping people who often find themselves in conflict with their own thoughts and feelings, or who may worry that people in their life don't 'get them'. Clients who I work with can feel that their voices often go unnoticed by those around them.

They may notice this most when struggling to make decisions that feel right for them, or feeling torn between what they think and how they feel. This can make it challenging to be themselves and make choices that really matter to them.

If the above sounds familiar to you, we can work through these feelings together, helping you to form more genuine relationships and make decisions that align with who you are.

Training, qualifications & experience

I first started my journey working with children and young people who had experienced a bereavement. It was from there which I started my counselling training and continued working for a local charity, supporting children and young people with their emotional health and wellbeing. I have also worked with adults in a local counselling charity, adding to my experience in working with a variety of people, who face a range of challenges and adversities.

I have a BSc (hons) degree in Psychology, as well as a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills, Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies and a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which is a leading professional body for Counselling in the UK. Throughout my career I have also completed training in, Solution Focused Therapy, Coaching and Sexual Exploitation and Violence training.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

This list is not exhaustive and I believe in counselling being an option for anyone, regardless of situation or circumstance. I work from an integrative approach, meaning that we would work together in a way which best suits you and your reasons for coming to counselling.

I also strongly believe that counselling can be the ultimate form of self-care and therefore there does not need to be a specific reason to come to counselling.
