About me
My name is Gina and I am a counsellor based in Stevenage. We all need emotional support from time to time and if you are reading this, then there is probably something going on, either for you or someone you know, which is affecting you personally. You may have a specific problem that is particularly emotionally challenging and distressing, such as bereavement or job loss, or struggling with a specific issue such as an eating disorder or pattern of destructive relationships. However, it might also be something that you cannot quite put your finger on, but you just feel empty and unfulfilled and want to gain some self awareness to enhance your life and relationships. I work with adults, on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to live your life more fully.
Life today can be very demanding, provoking high levels of stress, anxiety and depression. This not only impacts how we feel about ourselves, but also our relationships in both our personal and professional lives. We can feel so overwhelmed with everything, it becomes hard to make sense of what is going on for us, leaving us feeling vulnerable, confused and isolated.
We all need extra support from time to time and traditionally known as the 'talking cure', counselling gives you the opportunity to talk with a trained professional. Counselling also gives you the opportunity to better understand yourself by providing you with a confidential space and emotional support, throughout your explorations. Having someone to support you while you explore your distress, gives you an increased self awareness and confidence, making you better equipped to make the right choices for you. Resilience also begins to be rebuilt, helping you cope with the challenges that life can throw at us when we least expect it.
I understand that the initial step of reaching out for support can feel daunting. So if you have any questions or would like to hear more about the way I work, please contact me. I very much look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes
Gina

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
