About me
Hello and welcome.
I am a Doctorate-level Chartered Health Psychologist and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), registered with both the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am based near Trowbridge, Wiltshire, and offer therapy to adults seeking thoughtful, evidence-based psychological support.
Professional background
I bring nearly 20 years of experience within the NHS, spanning frontline clinical practice, service development, and senior system leadership in mental health. Alongside delivering therapy, I have worked at a strategic level shaping and improving mental health services across large populations. This breadth of experience gives me a distinctive perspective: I understand both the individual, lived experience of psychological difficulty and the wider systems that influence access, care, and recovery.
My clinical work has included supporting adults with a wide range of mental health difficulties and long-term health conditions. I am particularly experienced in working with:
- Anxiety disorders (including PTSD, OCD, specific phobias, and generalised anxiety)
- Insomnia and sleep difficulties
- Perinatal mental health
- Work-related stress and burnout, including for those in high-pressure or demanding roles (such as corporate, leadership, or caring professions), while recognising these experiences can affect people across many different contexts
- Health-related behaviour change (including weight management, smoking cessation, and increasing physical activity)
Psychological adjustment to long-term health conditions (e.g. chronic pain, fibromyalgia, type 2 diabetes) - Supporting young people as they navigate key developmental stages and life transitions—such as increasing independence, identity development, education or career decisions—and working alongside parents or carers to help them feel better equipped to support during these periods.
I recognise how complex and overwhelming these challenges can feel. My aim is to help you build confidence in your ability to cope, make meaningful changes, and improve your overall wellbeing.
My approach
I offer compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-based therapy, grounded primarily in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and aligned with NICE guidelines. Alongside CBT, I integrate a range of approaches depending on your needs, including:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Mindfulness-based approaches
- Motivational Interviewing
- Self-regulation approaches for persistent or complex depression
I take a whole-person approach, working with you to understand patterns of thinking, behaviour, and belief that may be maintaining difficulties, while also considering your wider life context, values, and goals. Together, we develop practical, personalised strategies to support meaningful and sustainable change.
What it’s like to work with me
Clients often describe me as warm, approachable, and down-to-earth. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and able to speak openly about what matters to you—at your own pace.
In our initial session, we will explore your current difficulties, the impact they are having on your life, and what you would like to achieve from therapy. We will begin to develop clear, meaningful goals to guide our work together. I will also explain how I work and answer any questions you may have, so you can feel confident about the process.
Throughout therapy, I tailor each session to your needs—drawing on both my clinical expertise and your preferences—to ensure the work feels relevant, practical, and supportive.
Outcomes
My goal is that by the end of therapy, you will have:
A clearer understanding of the difficulties you have been experiencing
Practical tools and strategies you can continue to use independently
Greater confidence in managing challenges and maintaining your wellbeing
I am committed to ongoing professional development and continually update my knowledge and skills to ensure I offer the highest standard of care.
If you would like to find out more or have any questions, please feel free to get in touch via email or phone.
