About me

I believe it is so important for counselling to be shaped around you. Everyone brings their own experiences, personality, circumstances and way of making sense of the world, so I take an integrative approach that allows me to draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on your individual needs.

My work integrates approaches including Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), alongside creative approaches where these feel helpful and appropriate. I enjoy finding different ways of exploring what is going on for you, particularly when words alone don't quite capture what you are experiencing. We can work together to understand your thoughts, feelings, relationships and patterns, while also exploring what may help you move forward.

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, relationship difficulties, life changes, OCD and intrusive thoughts. You may have a clear understanding of what has brought you to counselling, or you may simply know that something doesn't feel right and want some space to work it through. Wherever you are starting from, I will meet you there.

I aim to create a space that feels warm, accepting and free from judgement, where you can be open and honest about what you're going through. I will meet you as you are, listen with curiosity and compassion, and work alongside you. My hope is that through our work together, you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself, explore new perspectives and feel more able to make choices that are right for you.

I offer both face-to-face and online sessions, with the option to combine the two depending on what works best for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Finding a counsellor who feels like the right fit for you is an important part of the process. I offer a free 20- minute introductory telephone call, giving us an opportunity to have an initial conversation before you decide whether you would like to work together.

During the call, you can tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling and what you are hoping for from therapy. I can explain more about my approach and how I work, and we can get a sense of whether I might be the right counsellor for you.

There is no pressure or expectation to commit to counselling following the call. Anything you share with me will be treated with respect and confidentiality, whether or not we go on to work together.

If you decide that you would like to begin counselling with me, we can then arrange a date and time for your first session.
