About me
Hi, I'm Gayle, a counsellor and psychotherapist working with adults age 18+. I offer a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. Together, we'll work in a way that meets you where you are, supporting you to better understand yourself and navigate life's challenges.
Areas of Interest
I have a special interest in women's mental health and wellbeing. Throughout our lives, we experience many transitions, challenges, and changing roles that can sometimes feel overwhelming, lonely, or isolating. Having a safe, supportive space where you can explore whatever you're experiencing, without judgement, can help to ease the mental and emotional load that often feels so heavy.
I also have a particular interest in relationship dynamics and attachment styles. Whether the relationship is with a parent, partner, family member, or someone else important in your life, relationships can be complex and deeply influence how we see ourselves and others. Life changes, significant events, and challenging circumstances can place additional strain on these connections. Therapy can offer a safe and supportive space to explore these patterns, untangle complexities, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships.
How I work
At the heart of my work is the belief that you are the expert on your own experience. I aim to offer a space that feels accepting, respectful and genuine - where you can explore whatever feels important at your own pace.
Alongside this, we may gently explore patterns in your life and relationships, including early experiences that may still shape how you feel or relate today. This can include noticing feelings that arise within our therapeutic relationship. Any such exploration will always be approached thoughtfully and collaboratively.
Therapy can sometimes feel challenging as well as relieving, and it’s natural to experience a mix of emotions along the way. At your pace, we will work together to create a space that feels safe and supportive enough for you to explore what truly matters, helping you feel heard, understood, and gently supported throughout the process.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
Having experienced therapy myself, I understand how important it is to find a therapist who feels like the right fit. That's why I offer a free, no-obligation initial session, giving us both the opportunity to see whether we feel we can work well together therapeutically.
Following the initial session, the fee is £50 for a 50 minute session. I offer both in-person and online sessions, usually on a weekly basis, although this can be discussed during the initial session. In-person sessions will take place in my counselling room in Dunfermline.
Finding the right therapist is important, and if you decide that I'm not the right fit for you, I'm always happy to recommend other counsellors or suggest resources that may better meet your needs.
