About me

Hello & welcome to my profile.

To be here, you must be looking for some help.  I would like to offer you a warm and supportive place to help you work out the part of your life that's causing you difficulties.  I would like to provide you with space, in your life, to have someone being empathic and caring. I'd hope to work with you towards you beginning to manage issues that you're facing.

My website has some FREE resources (within my blog page), that are popular areas that relate to different areas of relationships.  Please have a read of these, as they represent areas I see often in the work I do with my clients.  You may find something that resonates with you straight away.

Most of my experience is connected to Relationships, for couples & individuals. I have over 3,000 clinical hours working with clients and their relationship issues.

I understand contacting a counsellor for help, might not be easy. I offer an opportunity to speak to someone in a welcoming & neutral environment with the experience to support couples and individuals.  These issues may have been unaddressed for some time or maybe difficult to discuss without help.  I design my support to create a place for people to begin discussing areas of their life in the most productive way they can.

I often work with couple’s communication and helping them reduce friction & conflict.  My work with individuals can be exploring how to manage their current relationship or a past relationship, that is impacting on how they feel.  I also work with people with general relationships anxieties.

I meet people online & also have some Face-to-Face appointments. To contact me, please email me and we will arrange a Free introductory phone call.

Some examples of reasons I may be approached:

Affairs/Trust

Conflict

Distance in relationships

Managing changes

Communicating effectively

Depression or anxiety within relationship

Issues of intimacy / lack of passion

Issues connected to family

Separation

Self-esteem

About Me

My career began in business, working in one of Tesco's head offices.  While here, I was focusing on bringing up a young family while also including studying towards a masters degree in business.  After working there for 11 yrs I took redundancy as a way of moving away from numbers & computers.  I established myself as a Painter/Decorator for 5 years before moving to Jersey in the Channel Islands.  Here I began studying counselling (part-time) and was immediately drawn towards taking it further.  I studied level 2 & 3 counselling qualifications in Jersey then moved back to the UK and found a training placement at Relate.  I completed my level 4 & 5 training at Relate and still committed to working for the charity.

This year will mark 30 yrs together with my wife and we have 2 grown up children.  Over these 30 years, we've had difficult things that have impacted us. I'd like to feel my own experiences, mixed with my extensive experience with other people's lives, allows me to appreciate the struggles people might be encountering.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
