About me
I am offering the first session free. This session can be up to 50 minutes of speaking on the phone, or on Zoom or in person at my house in Meonstoke. Please get in touch by email if you would like to take advantage of this offer. I would welcome the opportunity to hear your story and to be able to help. If life is painful or a struggle for you in any way, I am here to help, as I am an experienced counsellor, having worked with a great variety of issues over the years. Together, we can find a solution that is right for you.
I work with individuals, couples, families and children. I am also interested in how childhood experiences affect us as adults and how we can heal any negative or unhelpful ways of coping with our lives and relationships.
Many people struggle with negative feelings in today's world so I can offer a safe space to explore what is going on for you, whether it a current situation, past traumas, or issues that you have never been able to resolve.
I believe that therapy often represents the beginning of new insights, a deeper understanding of yourself and an opportunity for self acceptance and self compassion. Our struggles can open the door to positive change and personal growth, which can be daunting at first but ultimately rewarding. My practice aims to support your understanding of what you are feeling in order to help you move to a more fulfilled and happier place, where you can find peace of mind.
How it works is that I prefer to meet for an initial session at my house in Meonstoke, in order to talk about how I can help and what you would like to achieve through the process of counselling. Everyone's situation is unique and sometimes a problem can be resolved in one meeting, sometimes an agreed number of sessions or open ended.
From that initial meeting we can arrange to continue meeting in person or on Zoom, depending on what works best for you. Each session is 50 minutes long.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am a fully qualified counsellor who has worked for Relate for 15 years and in private practice since. I trained through Relate and hold a Certificate in Marital and couple counselling. In addition I hold certificates in Family practice, a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Diploma and Transactional Analysis.
I can help with a broad range of issues from bereavement to relationship struggles, anxiety, depression, trauma, work related stress, addictions and issues from childhood, such as emotional neglect.
I am committed to my personal and professional development and regularly expand my ideas and knowledge through books, articles and all media. I also regularly update my counselling skills by participating in Continuing Professional Development courses and workshops. We can never stop learning.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Childhood Emotional Neglect:
The impact of Childhood Emotional Neglect is increasingly recognised as creating struggles in a persons adult life. Emotional neglect is parents inability to meet the feelings and emotional needs of their child. As an adult that child may be cut off from their emotions, and find it hard to connect, especially in intimate relationships.
