About me

Glasgow West End, Dunblane and Online

Maybe therapy starts with understanding, not fixing.

If you’re thinking about therapy, you may already have a pretty good idea of what you are struggling with. You might be overthinking, worrying, avoiding things, being hard on yourself, struggling with confidence or feeling completely overwhelmed.

Knowing what is happening though doesn’t always make it easier to change.

I’m a BABCP accredited cognitive behavioural therapist with over 15 years’ clinical experience. CBT is the foundation of my training, but I don’t believe therapy should be about fitting you into a particular approach. You are more important than the therapy model.

For me, therapy starts with understanding your world - what life is like for you, what has brought you to this point and what makes sense about the ways you have learned to cope.

I work collaboratively, bringing my clinical experience and therapeutic skills while recognising that you are the expert on your own life. Together, we can make sense of what is happening and explore what might need to change.

My approach is grounded in CBT, while drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches depending on what you need. I believe therapy should be tailored to the individual, rather than expecting you to fit a particular model or way of working.

Sometimes we need practical strategies; sometimes we need to look at long-standing patterns, beliefs or experiences. We work that out together.

I feel particularly strongly about self-compassion. Many of us are far kinder to other people than we are to ourselves. Learning to develop a more compassionate voice isn’t about letting yourself off the hook - it can actually make meaningful, sustainable change more possible. And sometimes self-care is less about having a bath and more about setting boundaries, resting without guilt or changing the way you speak to yourself.

I aim to offer a space where you can be open and honest without feeling judged. I can be challenging when it feels helpful, but always with warmth and respect. And there’s usually room for some humour too - therapy can be serious without every conversation having to feel heavy.

You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what you need from therapy. We can start with where you are and work it out from there.

I offer 55 minute sessions in Glasgow’s West End, Dunblane and online, with weekly or fortnightly appointments.

I also offer a free 15-minute initial conversation, giving you the chance to tell me a little about what’s going on, ask questions and get a feel for whether I might be the right therapist for you.

Finding the right therapist is personal. If you’re looking for someone who will listen carefully, gently challenge you and work with you rather than simply hand you a set of techniques, I’d be very happy to hear from you.
