About me

Hi, my name’s Emma 😊

I’m a Counsellor that works with adults using talk therapy. I believe in being non-judgemental, empathic and understanding no matter what. Whatever you’re struggling with, you don’t have to face it alone. My aim is to be a compassionate guide through negative thoughts and feelings to help you recover or navigate life difficulties. I work on a one-to-one basis with you in a confidential setting, weekly or bi-weekly for an hour.

I can use a mix of Trauma Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. We can create a tailor-made long or short-term therapy plan together to suit your needs.

My primary work is with adult survivors of childhood trauma. I have a passion for helping people with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. I strive to create a space where trauma survivors feel seen and heard.

As someone who is disabled, I can offer understanding with the long-term impact of disabilities. I know how closed off the world and everyday tasks can become. I’m looking to train more in this area to help as best I can.

I can provide support with:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Shame
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Childhood Trauma
  • Post-Traumatic Stress
  • Addictions

Feel free to drop me an email if you’d like to know more, or if what you’re struggling with isn’t listed.

I hope I’m able to help. Please check out the information below first to check if this is a good fit for you:

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked both with private agencies and within the NHS Let’s Talk service.

I am currently finishing my Level 7 Diploma in Trauma Therapy and my Level 1 in Traumatology. I’m looking at training in Internal Family Systems Therapy in the near future to enhance my work. I am also working towards accreditation with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. (BACP).

I’m trained to Diploma level in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Person-Centred Therapy. I’ve done additional training in Non-Suicidal Self-Injury and Brain Development training.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
