About me
Hi, I’m Emma. As an integrative counsellor and coach with a background in Occupational Therapy, I help people who have spent a long time coping, pushing through or putting other people’s needs first to understand what’s keeping them stuck and work out what they need. Together, we can turn that understanding into realistic changes, so you can feel more like yourself and move forward in a way that feels right for you.
You might have spent a long time just getting on with things and managing everything that life asks of you. Work, relationships, parenting, caring for other people, or simply trying to keep everything going. At some point, the ways you have always coped might stop working. You might feel exhausted, stuck, or like you have lost some sense of yourself along the way. You know something needs to change, but you are not quite sure what or where to start.
Therapy gives us space to slow things down and understand what is going on. We might look at how you are feeling now, what has brought you to this point, and experiences or patterns from the past that could still be affecting you. I am quite an active therapist, so I will ask questions, share things I notice and sometimes gently challenge you to look at something differently. At other times, you might simply need the space to talk and be heard.
I am also interested in what happens outside the therapy room. My background in Occupational Therapy and coaching has given me a strong understanding of how our wellbeing is connected to the way we actually live. Together we can look at what is taking up your time and energy, what matters to you, and what might need to change. This could involve trying out practical ideas or making small changes that feel realistic for your life.
There is no set formula for how we work together. I adapt sessions to you and what you need at the time. My hope is that you come away not only understanding yourself better, but feeling more able to make choices that work for you and move towards the life you want.
If you feel ready to take the next step, you’re welcome to email me to arrange a free, 15 minute initial conversation. We can talk about what has brought you to therapy and whether working together feels right. You can also visit my website, Talk with Emma, if you’d like to find out more about me and how I work first.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I work using a Personal Consultancy approach, which brings counselling and coaching together. This allows the focus of our work to change depending on what you need – from understanding and processing experiences, to recognising patterns, considering different perspectives and making practical changes.
I also use tools and frameworks where they can be helpful. One example is Capacity States, a framework I developed to help people recognise changes in their energy, stress and capacity, understand what influences these, and identify ways of responding to what they need at different times.
