About me

I provide therapy online and over the phone.  I work using the person-centred approach, which is based on the idea that the resources for change lie in each one of us.  Being heard by someone who listens empathically, and without judgement, enables us to feel acknowledged and understood.  Within the secure and accepting environment that I provide, those I work with can feel safe to discuss whatever it is that concerns them.

Sometimes life circumstances can be very challenging, and we may find ourselves thinking or behaving in ways that are unhelpful. We may not understand why we feel or behave the way we do.  It could be that behaviours that helped us to cope in the past no longer serve us, but we can’t find a way to break out of them.  Sometimes we don’t even realise we’re behaving/thinking in ways that conflict with our best interests; we simply feel out of kilter and don’t know why.

I work with individuals to explore their situation and to own their thoughts and feelings, helping them to make sense of what’s going on.  From this place of awareness, they may be empowered to make choices about changes they might like to make.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced and professionally qualified person-centred psychotherapist.  I have a diploma and an MSc in person-centred psychotherapy from a rigorous five-year professional training at Metanoia Institute in London.  My experience has been built through offering one-to-one therapy to clients through different organisations, including several years with Mind.

I offer a warm, accepting and authentic way of being with my clients and work alongside them collaboratively, as an equal.  My expertise is not based on explaining you to you.  I believe that no one knows better about what it’s like to be you than yourself.  Instead, I'd work with you as an individual, without assumptions or preconceptions about how you might be experiencing your difficulties.  I also believe that a genuine, trustworthy relationship, based on empathy and warm acceptance – empowers people to express their potential, be true to their very selves, and to get back on track to a life that is fulfilling and authentic.
