About me
Are you a Mum feeling sad, anxious or overwhelmed? Maybe motherhood isn’t what you expected. You feel lonely but too anxious to leave the house with your little one and all the unknown variables (what if they cry and need feeding?). Perhaps you feel out of touch with your postpartum body and are having trouble with your body image. Maybe becoming a Mum has brought back memories and feelings from your childhood that you want to explore.
If any of this resonates with you, you aren't alone and help is available.
Becoming a mum is one of the biggest life transitions we can go through; it is intense and challenging in ways that we can’t prepare ourselves for, even if it’s not your first child there is an adjustment with each baby.
I’m Emily and I offer therapy to Mums to help them reconnect with themselves and improve their sense of wellbeing. I’m a qualified counsellor based in Bristol offering face-to-face and online sessions. I’m an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and I abide by their ethical framework; I am also recognised as a Registered Member of the BACP. I work in an integrative approach and tailor the sessions to suit each unique individual I work with.
I understand that it can be difficult to attend sessions face to face, non-mobile babies are welcome in our sessions if it will make getting there more accessible for you. I also offer sessions on Zoom, which has more flexibility and where babies are welcome to join as well.
In-person sessions are in Montpelier (BS6), which is walkable from central Bristol in 15 minutes and also has on-street parking. Please let me know if you will be bringing your baby to our session.
I have a special interest in working with Postpartum Depression (PPD), Postpartum Anxiety (PPA), pregnant people and new parents in this transition of life and beyond. Although my work is focused on Mums, I welcome Dads to practice as well!
I spent over a year working with Bath Mind and have also supported families with sick children.
