About me

I know just how nerve wracking it can be taking the first step to counselling, but I wholeheartedly believe it to be a worthwhile process.  We often end up searching for a therapist when we've had enough of carrying our problems and anxieties around by ourselves.

Whether you are dealing with concerns such as anxiety, family issues, relationship problems, depression, bereavement, stress trauma or low self esteem, counselling can help to answer some of those puzzling questions you might have about yourself and your life.  Therapy can also help to alleviate painful feelings. Although it can feel daunting, it is truly fascinating, and often liberating, to build your self awareness and understand your patterns of relating to others.

I’m a fully qualified counsellor and I provide a confidential space for you to talk freely and openly about whatever your concerns are. I offer both long and short term therapy and I tailor my approach to best suit you, as I believe we are all individuals, with unique needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am fully qualified with a CPCAB level 4 diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

My person-centred approach means we will build a therapeutic relationship, so we are able to work together to help you look at any issues you wish to face. I also draw on psychodynamic theory, which looks back at your past experiences to see how they may be influencing your current feelings or behaviours.

I really value continued learning and regularly enrol on short courses to learn more such as ‘Understanding Narcissism’, ‘Sex & Shame’ and ‘Transactional Analysis 101’.

I have experience working with adults, young to old, from various backgrounds, cultures and walks of life. I have worked at Carers Support Bexley, assisting carers in need of counselling; and I currently work at a low cost counselling charity with a wide range of clients with various needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Please feel free to contact me to discuss making an appointment. You can call me, send an email or text. Initially, we can have a brief phone call to discuss your needs and what I can offer. During which, if you wish to, we can arrange your first session.

The first session is your chance to see if I am someone you would like to work with.  This will be a mix of agreeing how we will work together and learning what you can expect from our sessions. It’s also a chance for me to get an overview of what your current concerns are and what you hope to achieve through counselling.  After which you can decide if you would like to continue.
