Hello and welcome to my profile.
My name is Ellie Simpson and I am a professionally qualified Humanistic Counsellor and Psychotherapist offering short and long term therapy both online and face to face. I am a registered member of the BACP and work in accordance with their Codes of Ethics and Professional Practice.
Life has a way of throwing us a curve ball every now and again which isn't always easy to manage alone. This may lead to you feeling alone, vulnerable, anxious, depressed, angry or overwhelmed with a combination of those feelings.
I can help you explore any difficulties you may be experiencing, in order to empower you, to make the necessary changes to live a more fulfilling life.
It is both my passion and a privilege to work adults and young people (13+) experiencing a wide range of psychological and emotional issues. I believe very strongly in the healing experience this unique therapeutic relationship can offer a client.
Talking with an impartial professional outside of your network can be a transformative experience however, finding a therapist you can trust with your inner most world can be a daunting task.
Finding the right therapist
Every therapist will work slightly differently and finding someone who 'fits' for you, I believe, is a very important aspect of your therapeutic journey. I believe that the relationship built between therapist and client is of huge significance to the value of counselling, often more so than the theoretical models used by the therapist. Hopefully the information here and on my website will help you decide whether I might be the right therapist for you.
I am trained to a BA (Hons) Degree level in Humanistic Counselling & Psychotherapy which has laid the foundations for my approach. I focus on understanding and exploring your unique world and how you perceive it. You may want to address a specific issue and/or together we could work to understand your values and beliefs, your relationship with yourself, with others, and with the outside world. I work collaboratively with my clients as I believe you are the expert on you and that therapy is done with you, not to you!
I am also trained in the Rewind Technique which is an approach to treating the symptoms of PTSD.
What to expect from me..
I offer both short and long term therapy; the number of sessions will depend on the issues you bring and the pace you would like to work at. This can be discussed at our initial meeting. I am able to work online with clients using a video meeting platform called Zoom so our respective geographical locations should not cause any limitations.
I will strive to provide you with a relationship where you will feel safe to talk openly about your inner most thoughts and feelings in a confidential and secure environment. Hopefully the therapeutic relationship that we will build will allow you to understand yourself better.
I enjoy working creatively with clients (if they so wish) at any stage in the relationship. I appreciate that it may be overwhelming in the first few sessions to speak to a stranger for a full 50 minutes and if this is the case for you, working creatively can help alleviate some of this anxiety.
I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation or an initial 30 minute face to face consultation (charged at £20). We can explore whether I am the right therapist for you and can discuss what you would like to achieve and ask any questions.
There is absolutely no obligation to work with me after either of these.
I have availability to see clients from my home in Woodgate (PO20) or in the centre of Chichester.
Please feel free to call, text or email me.
