Hello and welcome to my profile.
My name is Ellie Simpson and I am a professionally qualified Humanistic counsellor/psychotherapist offering short and long term therapy in the Chichester area. I am a member of the BACP and work in accordance with their Codes of Ethics and Professional Practice.
I have experience of working with a wide range of psychological and emotional issues both with adults and young people.
My belief is that you have within you the resources and inner strength to overcome your struggles however, sometimes these can feel buried by all that life throws at you. I am hopeful that we could work collaboratively on the issues that bring you to me to give you a greater self-awareness and the opportunity to heal and grow. To enable this, I will provide you with a caring, accepting and non-judgemental environment where you will feel safe enough to share and explore your true thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
You may feel that the thought of sitting with a stranger and feeling an expectation to open up might feel uncomfortable and overwhelming. I will not pressure you in any way to explore something you are not ready to. I respect that every client likes to work at a different pace and in different ways. Some clients are happy to simply sit and talk while other clients like to make use of the materials I have in the room to work creatively.
There are many different types of counselling and it is important for you to find a counsellor you feel comfortable with. I believe that the relationship built between therapist and client is of huge significance to the value of counselling, often more so than the theoretical models used by a therapist.
I offer an initial free 30-minute appointment so that we can explore your needs and expectations of therapy and find out whether I may be the right therapist for you.
I have availability to see clients from my home in Woodgate (PO20) or in the centre of Chichester.
Please feel free to call, text or email me.
Alongside my private practice I also volunteer as a counsellor for a charity supporting young people.
