About me
Hi, I’m Ellie, an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor - and, most importantly, a real person who knows that sometimes life can feel like a lot.
You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, lacking in confidence, or simply not quite yourself. Perhaps you know exactly what’s wrong, or perhaps you just have that nagging feeling that something needs to change but you’re not sure where to start. You don’t need to arrive with everything neatly worked out. That’s partly what counselling is for.
I offer a down-to-earth space where you can talk openly without worrying about saying the “right” thing. There’s no judgement, no expectation that you should have it all figured out, and definitely no clipboard with a checklist of how well you’re doing at life.
I work integratively, which basically means I don't believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all. I draw from person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT approaches, choosing what feels most useful for you rather than trying to squeeze you into a particular way of working. Alongside my counselling training, I’ve developed additional knowledge in nervous system regulation, Internal Family Systems (IFS) hypnotherapy, mind-body wellbeing and more. Sometimes we might look back at where certain patterns or beliefs have come from. Sometimes we might focus on what’s happening for you right now and find practical ways to make things feel more manageable. And sometimes, you might just need somewhere to properly exhale and make sense of what’s going on.
I know what it’s like to sit on the other side of the conversation, and I think my experience has given me a genuine appreciation for how much courage it can take to ask for support in the first place and what support can do.
My aim isn’t to “fix” you - you’re not broken. It’s to work alongside you, with curiosity, honesty and the occasional bit of humour, to understand what’s going on underneath the surface and help you find a way forward that feels more like you.
Therapy doesn’t have to be stiff, clinical or full of jargon. It can be thoughtful and meaningful while still feeling like a conversation between two human beings.
If you’re wondering whether counselling might be right for you, you’re very welcome to get in touch. You don't need to have the perfect words for why you're here. We can start there.
