About me

Hi there and thank you for clicking on my profile. My name is Ella and I own a private practice called Counsella Psychotherapy.

How are you feeling? I’m guessing not too great...? This may be an understatement... Are you looking for someone to talk to, who truly and actively listens? Someone who is deeply empathic, professional and devoted? But you don’t know where to start? Or which therapist to go with? Or what to say? I understand that asking for help and support can be difficult and overwhelming.

I am here for you, whatever it is that you’re struggling with. I can offer you a safe, calm and quiet space to talk. Whatever it is, there is no judgement. I can offer you a space to have a look at your feelings and thoughts, with someone who understands.

Together, we can work through your feelings, emotions and thoughts around the past, present, or future. I will value and hold whatever it is that you choose to bring. Together, we can create an environment to help you thrive and rejuvenate.

I believe that every person in the world could benefit from some form of therapy. Everyone goes through their own emotions and events that life can bring. However, not every person does something about it. Some people bottle up their feelings and don’t ever talk about what they’re going through - which in most cases, does more harm than good. So if you are seriously considering giving therapy a go, I want to let you know that I really admire your bravery.

I have a degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy, alongside with additional training. I am specially trained in bereavement and loss. I work mainly around the person centered approach, but I also work in an integrative way by bringing other approaches into the therapy where needed. Everyone is different, therefore I do not believe that one approach can work for all.

My therapeutic approach is very much a warm and empathic one, I encourage and guide clients to look at the very root of their issue(s) to establish where their anxiety, depression and thinking patterns come from. A lot of issues can stem back to childhood trauma and/or receiving unhealthy parenting styles. So, working with the inner-child is usually a large part of my therapeutic approach.

To start with, I can offer you an initial 90 minute session, this includes a free 30 minute consultation, followed by a 60 minute therapy session. This allows us to have a chat about any questions you may have about the process and what may bring you to therapy. After this initial session, if you choose to work with me, we can then book in subsequent sessions. So... are you ready to invest in yourself?

I am currently offering only video and telephone sessions. I am unable to offer face-to-face sessions at this time. I will update this profile as soon as face-to-face sessions are available.

If you are waiting to hear back from myself, please check your junk mail box or spam folder.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any enquires and I look forward to our work together. My remote services (telephone/video call) are available for anyone in the UK.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
