About me
Hi
I am an experienced counsellor trained at the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy and accredited with the UKCP. I work with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationship issues, social isolation and addictions including alcohol gambling and alcohol.
I am also a BWRT registered practitioner. ‘BWRT®’ stands for ‘BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®’, a model of psychology and psychotherapy created by UK professional therapist, Terence Watts, MCGI. Like many other modern therapies, it allows a ‘core of privacy’ so that you do not have to divulge anything you would rather not talk about – in fact, the practitioner only needs to know how you feel and how you would prefer to feel instead. BWRT® is a completely new and different therapy based on the latest discoveries about the way the brain works and how it affects our moods, behaviour and emotions. Only Certified Practitioners have been trained to deliver BWRT® and all have to adhere to a strict ethical code. Find out more at http://www.bwrt.org
After a long career as a lawyer I realised that the thing I gained most satisfaction from was managing my team, developing them and enabling them to reach their full potential. This was my inspiration for re-training as a counsellor where I am able to help people who have lost their way and are not allowing themselves to be fully in their lives fulfilling their own potential and overcoming adversity.
I practice in a safe and warm environment in the lovely coastal village of Alnmouth in Northumberland offering complete confidentiality and can also offer walking therapy across the coastline to those who feel they would benefit from the healing properties of nature, weather permitting...
I offer a free initial telephone consultation to discuss your concerns and issues. If you decide to proceed, your first session will be an assessment where we explore your history and concerns. This allows both you and me to decide if I can help you and to set the number of sessions that may be required to address your goals. The initial session and any subsequent session usually last 50 minutes.
Some issues can be resolved relatively quickly within 6 to 8 sessions. More complex presenting issues may require us to work together longer but you will at all times be able to decide whether, and for how long, you wish to continue with counselling.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
