About me
I am a humanistic counsellor working with adults in Lewes, Brighton and online.
Welcome. It can be an overwhelming experience looking for a therapist - I have been where you are. I provide a warm, relational and non-judgmental space for you, where we can explore whatever concerns you would like to bring to counselling.
You might want to work with me because you are struggling with a particular issue, relationship, friendship, or family dynamic.
You may feel stuck or feel life hasn’t turned out the way you expected it to.
You may feel a persistent sense of anxiety or dread and aren’t sure where exactly it comes from.
You might feel disconnected from a part of yourself or your body, and not know how to start feeling reconnected.
I aim to work closely with the body, as I have experienced personally and found in the theory that the body holds so much valuable information, if we can just tune into it. If appropriate, I find that working creatively, whether through dreams, pictures, drawings, and focussing can be valuable. I work relationally, believing that transformation and healing can be found in relationship with another. I aim to walk alongside you as we explore your inner world and past experiences, making meaning along the way.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed a Post-graduate Diploma with the University of Brighton in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I am also currently in training to complete my Masters in Psychotherapy, also at Brighton University.
I have worked in Wellbeing and Mental Health in the NHS for the last 5 years, so I bring an intimate knowledge of the way the wider system works and how to enable that you feel supported by a wider team, if necessary. I also have a background in nutrition, which has informed how I can work in connection with the body.
BSc in Nutrition from Kings College London
BA in Drama and Film Studies from Sussex University
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
