About me

COVID-19 - Working online and by telephone

In response to the current public health crisis, I have urgently moved to provide counselling, CBT and therapy services online and by telephone.

Welcome to Psychology House, St Andrews. With so many different therapies on offer and different approaches available, it can be difficult to choose the right therapy for you. Having a therapist who is the 'right fit'  is fundamental to success. I believe in tailoring therapy to meet your individual needs and preferences. I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist providing psychological assessment and evidence- based interventions drawing on the latest research. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as well as Person-Centred Therapy.

In my approach I often apply Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques. I work with depression, anxiety including trauma and panic, bereavement and loss, physical and life-limiting illness, abuse, stress including work and academic, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and personal development.

If you have any queries, please feel free to get in touch either by telephone or email to discuss further or to arrange an initial appointment and then we can take it from there.

Training, qualifications & experience

My training and experience spans over twenty years. I have a doctorate in Counselling Psychology and I am chartered with the British Psychological Society. I am registered with the HCPC.

I have worked with children, young people, adults and older adults experiencing emotional distress in their lives and who want support to change the way they deal with difficulties. I have extensive group work experience using CBT.

My previous experience includes working within local authorities and the voluntary sector as well as within  universities, secondary schools, forensic, residential, health and drugs & alcohol settings.

My therapeutic approach is tailored to an individuals needs and preferences working in both a non-judgemental and compassionate way. I draw on a range of evidence-based therapies and techniques.
I am trained and experienced in cognitive behavioural and humanistic approaches. However, it is important that you feel supported within the therapeutic relationship and that  therapy is both helpful and useful. If we meet for an initial appointment we will discuss your situation, needs and preferences and decide how we might proceed.
