About us

Affordable Counselling Service!

Chris and Emma set up their counselling practice in Stansted Mountfitchet in 2019.  It has now become one of the most popular and respected practices in and around the Bishop's Stortford area. We have just launched our new centre in Great Dunmow and we hope to be offering clients access to this centre in the summer of 2024.

The service is entering its 4th year and now has capacity to offer 'Affordable' therapy across two centres to anyone who needs it. We have 20 counsellors waiting to listen, support and contain up to 100 clients. We are available Monday to Saturday, mornings, afternoons and evenings.

If you choose to seek support through this service, you will be fully assessed by Chris or Emma before being allocated to the counsellor they think will best meet your needs. You will have the choice of centres and what times better suit you.

The counsellors delivering the Affordable Counselling Service are hand picked by Emma and Chris and trained on BACP approved courses. Our counsellors are members of the BACP or similar, fully insured, in personal therapy and under full clinical supervision. Your counsellor will have already qualified and be working towards accreditation or nearing the end of their qualification and building clinical hours.

You will be offered a minimum of 12 face to face sessions in our Therapy Centre in Stansted Mountfitchet. However, if you need a longer period of time for your personal journey you will allowed to continue.

You may be the ideal client to work at a deeper level with our Psychodynamic Counsellor which would allow you to continue for at least one year in good quality therapy.

We do not carry out financial checks or need prove of income - if you think you need this service then it is open to you.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
