Donna Periam: MBACP Intregative therapeutic counsellor
Hello my name is Donna and I am a therapeutic counsellor.
The decision to see a counsellor can be very frightening, but if you are reading this, then you have made a very brave step with self care and compassion. There are times in our lives when we need someone to talk too and I am here to support you. I will make every attempt to provide you with a safe and comfortable space in which to explore whatever may be concerning you.
My main aim is to provide a safe, non-judgemental space where we can build an authentic therapeutic relationship. We will explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions in order to help you improve your own personal awareness. I believe that this is paramount in building an open and honest relationship. My aspiration is to help you understand patterns in your own behaviour and why certain life experiences can leave us feeling out of control, helpless and confused.
As an integrative counsellor, I am trained and skilled in drawing on differing theories in order to support the therapeutic counselling process while also tailoring my skills to suit the needs of the individual.
I am trained in the following therapies:
- Person-Centred Counselling
- Psychodynamic therapy
- Transactional Analysis
- Play Therapy
