About me

There are times when we all need help with life's challenges. Counselling can be that space where concerns, difficulties and fears, can be explored and shared. An opportunity to unpick, uncover and repair issues/concerns.

I have worked in private practice since 2013 and I am a registered accredited counsellor with the National counselling society. a member of the BACP.  I regularly work with clients experiencing stress, anxiety or depression. I offer both short and long term counselling for individuals. I use a relational approach as I believe that our relationships are important in the development of oneself, especially those relationships we form in early childhood.

I work at the University of the West of England as an associate lecturer on the MSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy course. I previously worked as Ceo at Kinergy managing a team of 27 counsellors and 8 staff. Kinergy is a counselling agency that supports survivors of sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse.

Here are some of the things that clients have said about working with me: "Counselling has given me the ability to self-reflect and understand/explore where feelings and actions may be arising from. This has helped me better cope with the stresses in life. "

"I feel much better able to talk with my family, and recognise their difficulties as well as cope with my own."

"Having a safe space to be able to discuss anything without fear of judgement, and things going at a pace that was right for me".

Clinical Supervisor: Over the last 5 years I have supported counsellors in private practice, charities supporting clients with complex mental issues and businesses / charities with organisational issues.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
