Donal Carmody Accredited Counsellor BA, PG Dip.
Hello, I am a registered accredited counsellor with the National counselling society. I regularly work with clients experiencing stress, anxiety or depression. I offer both short and long term counselling for individuals and groups. I use a relational approach as I believe that our relationships are important in the development of oneself, especially those relationships we form in early childhood.
There are times when we all need help with life's challenges. I can offer you a space to reflect and think in the hope that this will lead to better understanding, self-awareness and change. A lot of people I see have a feeling of getting stuck or going round in circles. Often immersed in difficult feelings including anxiety, stress, anger or depression. Counselling can be that space where concerns, difficulties and fears, can be explored and shared. An opportunity to unpick, uncover and repair issues/concerns.
Alongside my private practice I work as Head of Counselling at Kinergy managing a team of 27 volunteers and 5 staff. Kinergy is a counselling agency that supports survivors of sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse. I also work at the University of the West of England as an associate lecturer on the Diploma in Counselling course.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
