About me
I’m Debbie, a qualified integrative counsellor offering online therapy for adults across the UK and Europe. Online counselling offers an accessible way to engage in therapy, especially for those who find travel difficult or who are more comfortable in their own space. It isn’t a lesser alternative to in‑person work; it’s simply a different way of accessing therapy that fits around your needs.
I work with people facing a range of challenges, but many approach me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, worried, or unsure why life feels so hard. Some are carers, struggling to balance their own needs with that of the person or people they care for. Others are navigating changes that come with long-term illness or disability. I also offer neurodivergent-affirming support for those who are self‑identifying, formally diagnosed, or adjusting to a late diagnosis of autism or ADHD.
Grief is also a significant part of my work. While many people associate grief with bereavement, it can also arise due to changes in health, relationships, work, identity, or the direction life has taken. Sometimes a sense of loss comes from realising that emotional needs were not met in childhood. In therapy, we make room for all forms of grief, including the grief that you may have quietly carried for years.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. My core way of working is person‑centred, offering a space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. Alongside this, I can offer attachment‑informed therapy to help you understand how your early relationships may have shaped your emotional wellbeing, patterns of connection, and ways of coping today. Where useful, I can also weave in CBT strategies, creative elements, and between‑session resources to support your process.
My style is down‑to‑earth and friendly. I aim to work collaboratively and to create a supportive, non‑judgemental space where you can speak openly and feel heard.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have experience across a range of counselling organisations, alongside many years in adult education supporting adults with learning differences.
I also have lived experience of neurodivergence and chronic illness. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the challenges people face in their everyday lives, especially those navigating a world that wasn’t built with their needs in mind.
My qualifications:
- BSc Social Science
- L2 and L3 Certificates in Counselling (CPCAB)
- L4 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (CPCAB)
- L5 Diploma in Attachment-based Psychotherapy (CPCAB)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy
- Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling
- Bereavement training from Cruise
- OU Course on Understanding Autism
- Registered member of the BACP
I currently work in private practice and for a charity.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
If you’re wondering whether I might be the right therapist for you, you’re very welcome to get in touch. You can email me with any questions or to arrange an initial session.
This first session is 50 minutes long and is an opportunity to get a feel of what counselling is like and to ask any questions you might have. It also allows me to understand your needs, hopes and goals and to make sure I can offer the support you’re looking for.
There is no pressure to book further appointments. If we agree to continue working together, we will organise our next session. Initially, I recommend that sessions be held weekly or fortnightly, but as you start to feel better, we can adjust session frequency to suit your needs.
