About me

Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. Many people worry that they will be expected to talk about things before they are ready, or that they need to have everything figured out before starting therapy.

I believe therapy should happen at a pace that feels right for you. You remain in control of what you choose to explore, and my role is to offer a supportive, understanding space where we can begin to make sense of your experiences together.

Perhaps you appear to be coping on the outside, but internally you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, disconnected, or unsure of what is happening for you. Maybe you find yourself overthinking, struggling to express emotions, withdrawing when things feel difficult, or noticing the same patterns repeating in your relationships or daily life.

Sometimes we can recognise that something does not feel right, but we do not fully understand why. Therapy can provide a space to slow things down, explore these experiences, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.

I believe that people’s thoughts, feelings and responses often make sense when we understand the experiences behind them. The ways we respond to life have often developed for a reason and may have helped us cope during difficult times. Through therapy, we can begin to explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion rather than judgement.

How I Can Help
I work with adults and young people experiencing a range of emotional and relational difficulties, including:

  • Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward
  • Anxiety, low mood, or ongoing self-criticism
  • Feeling disconnected from yourself or your emotions
  • Finding it difficult to express feelings or talk about what is happening inside
  • Feeling alone, unseen, or as though your experiences and emotions have not been fully understood
  • Difficulties with relationships or repeating patterns that feel hard to change
  • Struggling with confidence, self-worth, or understanding who you are
  • Emotional regulation difficulties and challenges faced by young people and adolescents

Many people come to therapy because they have spent a long time managing on their own. They may understand things logically but still feel stuck emotionally.

Therapy can offer a space to explore these experiences and begin to reconnect with yourself.

My Approach
My approach is integrative, drawing on humanistic and psychodynamic ideas. However, I believe that the most important part of therapy is the relationship we build together.

I aim to offer a genuine, calm, and accepting space where you feel safe enough to explore your experiences at your own pace. I do not believe therapy should be about rushing change or following a set path. Instead, I work collaboratively, allowing your needs and experiences to guide the process.

I believe that understanding ourselves more deeply can create lasting change. Often, the difficulties we experience today have connections to our past experiences, relationships, and the ways we have learned to cope.

Together, we can explore what may be happening beneath the surface, develop greater awareness of your emotions and patterns, and consider new ways of relating to yourself and others.

I also recognise that not everything we experience is easy to put into words. Sometimes emotions can feel confusing, overwhelming, or difficult to access. I adapt my approach to each person, meeting you where you are and finding ways to support you in making sense of your experience.

Experience
Alongside my private practice, I work as a counsellor supporting young people within a secondary school setting, while continuing to work with adults in private practice.

My school counselling work involves supporting young people with emotional wellbeing, anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, and relationship challenges.

This work has strengthened my understanding of how emotional difficulties can present in different ways. It has also reinforced the importance of creating a space where people feel accepted, understood, and able to express themselves in their own way.

I have experience working with both young people and adults, supporting individuals through periods of uncertainty, emotional distress, life transitions, and difficulties understanding themselves and their relationships.

I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

What Therapy With Me Is Like
I want therapy to be a space where you do not have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or have all the answers.

Therapy is a process of exploring and understanding yourself, and this takes time. Some sessions may focus on exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences, while others may involve simply noticing what is happening for you in the present moment.

My aim is to work alongside you, helping you feel heard, understood, and supported as you explore whatever has brought you to counselling.

Taking the First Step
Starting counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you are used to dealing with things by yourself.

You do not need to know exactly what you want to talk about before getting in touch. Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation and seeing whether therapy feels like the right support for you.

If you decide to contact me, we can arrange an initial session where we can explore what has brought you to counselling and whether working together feels like a good fit.

I aim to offer a space where you can slow things down, feel understood, and begin making sense of your experiences.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training, Qualifications & Experience
I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, alongside Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in counselling skills and studies.

I have experience supporting both adults and young people, offering counselling in person and online. Alongside my private practice, I currently work as a school counsellor in a secondary school, supporting young people with a range of emotional and relational difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, emotional regulation difficulties, and challenges around self-esteem and relationships.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing primarily on humanistic and psychodynamic ideas. I place the therapeutic relationship at the centre of my work, while also exploring how past experiences, relationships, and patterns of coping may influence how we experience ourselves and the world around us.

I regularly engage in continuing professional development to support my ongoing learning and development as a counsellor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
