About me
A warm welcome,
Many people seek counselling because there is something in their life they want to change. Perhaps that is your relationship with yourself, or others, or your ability to manage day to day life. Maybe past traumas are affecting you in the here and now. Life can feel hard sometimes and having a safe space to talk about your feelings can be truly transformative.
Are you feeling trapped by anxiety, or is depression stopping you from finding enjoyment in your life, do you find yourself worrying excessively? Is low self-esteem affecting how you see yourself? Talking therapy can help you to explore these feelings and understand how to manage them in your day to day life.
The type of therapy I provide is integrative, this means I draw on a number of different theories that I then 'integrate' into the session to best meet your need. I am also trained in cognitive behavioural therapy which can be useful when working with anxiety and depression. CBT aims to help you challenge any negative thoughts that may be holding you back. Theory is important as I use it to help you to understand yourself better. Recognising your own patterns of behaviour can change how you feel about yourself and how you view your world, it is within this knowledge that change and acceptance can take place.
I believe that building a strong relationship is the first step in therapy, you need to connect to your therapist in order to feel safe to open up and explore your life. I can provide you with a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space where you can talk freely about whatever is on your mind. There is no expectation about what you need to bring into the session and I can gently guide you through the process to ensure your goals are met and you feel heard.
If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch. I offer a 30minute free consultation to help you decide if I am the right fit for you and to ensure I am able to support you. There is never any pressure to continue following this so please take advantage of it to find out anything you need to know about counselling and therapy.
