About me

I offer a safe and calm space where you will be listened to without judgement. I work with empathy and care to help you explore whatever has brought you to therapy.

You may have worries about a current issue at work or home, have anxieties about a future change or there may be unresolved past experiences you wish to explore. Sharing how you feel with a Counsellor can help unpick areas where you feel stuck, support you to better understand yourself and help find ways to move forward by processing difficult feelings and situations.

Face to face sessions take place at a well established Counselling and Wellbeing Centre in Horsham, West Sussex. I also offer online and telephone counselling. All sessions are 50 minutes and if possible take place at the same time on the same day each week.

I offer either a free 15 minute phone call or a 50 minute face to face introductory session for a fee of £30. We can discuss what has brought you to counselling and what your hopes are for being in therapy. It is important to find a connection with your Counsellor, building trust is key to progress in therapy.

If you wish to continue sessions after our initial contact, these will be offered weekly at the regular fee of £55. You can contact me for further information by calling on the number above, booking an intro call or by emailing me. Thank you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. I have completed a three year BACP accredited course in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Psychodynamic). I deliver my practice in line with the BACP Ethical Framework and I attend regular supervision.

I have experience working as a volunteer therapist for a West Sussex counselling charity.

Separately to my counselling work, I have spent over 20 years in Local Government working for services supporting vulnerable adults and young people with a wide range of needs. This includes people experiencing housing crisis and homelessness, working with adults living in supported accommodation and supporting young people leaving local authority care. I have also worked for a not for profit organisation with families experiencing financial difficulties.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
