About me

As a psychotherapist and Life Coach at Trenpa Therapy, I view my job as being a very simple one, and that’s changing people’s lives for the better. I have many years of experience around supporting people to make positive and lasting changes. At Trenpa Therapy my aim is simple and that is to help you make the changes you want in life. People come to see me for many different reasons, no matter what your reason is I offer a warm friendly and confidential service.

I use Psychotherapy and Life Coaching to help free you to live a more authentic life, a life where you can have an understanding of your thoughts, emotions and behaviours.

How I can Help

I can help you to understand and overcome issues around depression and anxiety, drug or alcohol use, understanding and controlling anger, stress (at home or in the work place), relationship issues, and childhood trauma. I also provide therapy for people with many other difficulties, so if I have not mentioned something you are experiencing please feel free to contact me to discuss your needs further.

My approach

I am experienced in both short and long term work and although my approach is very much grounded within Psychotherapy I am able to use both Life Coaching and Mindfulness approaches. Being based in SHEFFIELD (Millhouses) I am easily accessible from the whole of the SHEFFIELD area.

So whether you have a specific issue you would like to work with me on or maybe you know something is ‘just not right’ but are unsure and would like to explore this further. The first step is often the hardest, so I will ensure you have a personal, warm and friendly reception when you contact me.

Training, qualifications & experience

Before becoming a Psychotherapist and Life Coach I worked as a qualified social worker for twelve years. During this time I have worked for various local authorities and some of the large children’s charities such as the NSPCC and Barnardos. This has involved intensive work with both adults and children in order to support real and lasting change. As my carer progressed I moved into a more focused therapeutic role and I now hold both a private clinical practice and one within the NHS where I work within an EMDR trauma service working with people who have experience complex trauma (PTSD/CPTSD).

During this time I developed a real interest in how to effectively lead teams and also in developing skills in order to work within extremely stressful environments.

Qualifications

  • I have completed a 4 year Advance clinical training course in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy (Dip).
  • Post Graduate Diploma Social Worker from Manchester Metropolitan University
  • BSc (Hon) Psychology from the University of Liverpool
  • Certification in Triple-P parenting program (all levels)
  • Specialised training to deliver Family Group Conferences
  • Fully ADOS trained (Autism Diagnostic observation schedule)
  • EMDR Accredited Therapist.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
