About me
Hi. I’m Colin, a Registered Counsellor who can help you find insights and solutions for whatever you want to explore in therapy.
I am Pluralistically trained at Masters level. This simply means that I have many types of therapies and interventions to help you with. I work with young and mature adults, face to face and online to allow you to choose which way you feel most comfortable speaking.
If face to face sessions suit you best, I live in Carnoustie and provide counselling from home. I may also be able to travel to your house if you cannot come to me, but there may be some travelling costs to cover. Simply get in touch to see what’s possible.
I believe everyone has within them, the potential for living fulfilling and productive lives even if that sometimes feels impossible. The therapeutic counselling relationship I offer can help you explore your personal potential and growth needs.
Counselling really does change lives.

Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Masters Degree in Counselling (MSc Counselling) and am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP).
As well as my private practice, I work with a bereavement counselling service.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I work from home. There is car parking directly outside my house and there is a regular bus service (Number 73) just a short walk from my door. My counselling space is on the ground floor but unfortunately my house is not suitable for wheelchair access. There are two steps into the front door. If you are a wheelchair user I could perhaps come to you instead. I have a friendly spaniel dog (the worlds best friend) who is out of view during our working time.
