Creative Counselling using the Arts | PGCert | BACP

About me

About me and my therapy practice:

Hi, I'm Cloe, a queer, neurodivergent, integrative creative counsellor working primarily with autistic adults, ADHD and AuDHD adults, LGBTQIA+ clients, people living with chronic pain and/or long-term health conditions. Basically, anyone whose identity, body, or way of being in the world hasn't quite fit the mould.

If you've felt that something is 'wrong' or 'different' about you, that you have to hide or perform parts of yourself to be accepted, then this space is for you. You don't need to translate yourself for me.

I'm LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent-identified, and my practice is queer-affirming, neurodivergent-affirming, chronic-pain-aware, and trauma-informed. I work with the full intersection of who you are: body, mind, sexuality, gender, neurotype, relationships, and culture. Everything that shapes your experience.

I passionately believe in empowering individuals to find their own answers to the challenges they face. I value diversity, integrity, connection, and the journey of self-discovery. I am unafraid to navigate difficult terrains and sit with discomfort. I believe that connecting deeply with our experiences is key to understanding how we perceive ourselves and our lives. I understand that our intersecting identities impact our lived experiences. I work with you to fully understand your identity so that we can collaborate towards a fuller, more authentic, joyful, and meaningful life.

I offer talking therapy combined with creative approaches (art, movement, mindfulness, sensory work). Being integrative means I use a mix of different therapy styles depending on what feels right for you in the moment. You don't need to be 'artistic', and you don't have to use creative elements if you don't want to. Some clients find that words aren't enough, and creative work can express what speech can't yet reach.

Practice description:

I see clients in person in Newhaven, East Sussex (BN9), and work online with people from across the UK.

My private practice space sits between Newhaven and Piddinghoe, quiet, accessible, and stocked with art materials and objects you can use if you would like.

Online sessions take place via secure video, and many clients prefer the comfort of working from their own space.

I work with what brings you, including:

  • Being autistic, ADHD, or AuDHD, especially late-identified adults, masking exhaustion, and finding therapy that doesn't pathologise how you experience the world
  • Living with chronic pain, persistent pain, long-term health conditions, or chronic fatigue, including the slow exhaustion of being doubted, misdiagnosed, or treated as a body separate from your mind. I have a particular interest in the relationship between trauma, identity and the body.
  • LGBTQIA+ identity, gender, sexuality, coming out, and coming home to yourself
  • Relationships of all kinds, partnerships, family, friendships, dating, separation, repair (including monogamous, polyamorous, non-monogamous, and other relationship structures). I don't currently offer couples counselling, but am starting the training soon.
  • Trauma, including developmental, identity-based, and medical trauma
Identity, self-worth, and the experience of always being 'other'
  • Burnout, overwhelm, and life transitions

I aim to create a welcoming space for exploring all feelings and to support you as you process your story and emotions at a comfortable pace. If you feel stuck or confused, I use active, compassionate listening to help you move forward. I am warm and supportive, and I aim to help you find a way forward in a safe environment.

My first session:

We start with a free 15-minute phone or online consultation, no commitment, just a chance to see if we click. If we go ahead, our first full session is 50 minutes and includes a longer exploration of what brings you and what you'd like to work on.

I work with clients both short and long term and there's no minimum commitment. I just ask that you give at least two sessions notice, so we can bring our work to a close appropriately.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
