About me

You know yourself better than anyone else and I know about counselling so together we can look at how life is for you at the moment and how you would like it to be.

I am interested in why we get stuck in life and because every person is an individual there is not one answer.

I can offer you some time away from everyday life to allow you the space and time to speak honestly and confidentially.

I believe that everyone should be supported to live a good life and as a qualified pluralistic counsellor I am committed to providing a space with no judgement for you to explore thoughts, emotions and experiences. We will work together and build a plan that can support you to navigate life's challenges.

We will start by identifying what you want to get out of counselling. You may be clear on that or it may be something we agree on during the work. You might want to focus on life just now, what has happened in the past or what the future might be or you may not know where to start. All of those options are fine, our conversations will help inform the use of our time together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over thirty years of experience working with people, my professional journey has given me the opportunity to train in mediation and leadership coaching and to work with a wide range of people facing many challenges in life and in the workplace.

I am a qualified counsellor with an MSc in Counselling from Abertay University and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I am a warm and kind person with lots of humility thrown in and I hope this combination plus the simple details I share on my approach to counselling give you enough comfort to get in touch.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
