About me

You might be someone others rely on — capable, thoughtful, outwardly coping — while privately feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or worn down by holding everything together. Many of the people I work with put others first, adapting to what’s needed, and questioning themselves, often without realising how much this pattern has been shaped by earlier experiences.

I became a counsellor because I understand what it’s like to carry things quietly, and how powerful it can be to finally feel met with warmth, care, and genuine understanding. Counselling offers a calm, accepting space where you don’t have to perform, have all the right words, or hold everything together.

I often work with adults who feel stuck in cycles of self-doubt, anxiety, or emotional overload — including parents, carers, and people navigating the lasting impact of difficult childhood experiences or complex family dynamics. Many arrive unsure whether their struggles are “enough” for counselling. They are.

How counselling can help
Our sessions are a place to slow things down and make sense of what’s been weighing on you — not just what’s happening now, but how you’ve learned to respond over time. Together, we explore the patterns, beliefs, and emotional responses that may once have helped you cope, but no longer serve you in the same way.

You don’t need to have the right words, a clear goal, or a neat story. Some people come knowing exactly what they want to work on; others simply know something doesn’t feel right. I’ll meet you where you are, while gently keeping our work focused and purposeful, so it feels safe, meaningful, and helpful.

My approach is calm, compassionate, and collaborative. I work at your pace, while also offering reflection and structure, so sessions stay focused and manageable.

Areas I often work with:
- Stress, overwhelm, and burnout
- Anxiety, low mood, and emotional exhaustion
- People-pleasing, low self-esteem, and persistent self-doubt
- Impact of emotionally difficult or unpredictable family relationships
- Childhood experiences that still affect adult life
- Life transitions, identity changes, and loss of direction
- Neurodiversity (your own, or within your family)

Client feedback:
“The work we have done together has genuinely changed my life. I am better able to respond in stressful situations, more self-aware, and I’ve learnt tools which will help me throughout the rest of my life.”

This may be right for you if…
- You cope outwardly but privately feel anxious, overwhelmed, or worn down
- You often put others first and struggle to prioritise yourself
- You’re reflective and self-aware, yet battle self-doubt
- You sense that earlier experiences or family dynamics still affect you today
- You want a calm, focused space to think, feel, and make sense of things
- You’re unsure whether counselling is “for you,” but know you need support

Next Step:
If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, I offer a free 20-minute phone or online chat. This gives you the chance to ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and see whether we’d be a good fit — with no pressure to commit.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
