About me

Getting to this stage and actively looking for a counsellor is a big step forward. It takes courage to make the initial contact.

You may be struggling with any number of issues or problems and need to get them off your chest. Let me help you feel better and lead a happy, balanced and fulfilled life.

I am an experienced counsellor, warm and down to earth. I am married with two adult children and an assortment of animals. I love the outdoors.

My counselling room is a safe, calm and confidential environment in which to work with you. We can explore your worries and concerns, I will accept whatever you bring.

My practice is located in the heart of the South Shropshire countryside. It is easily accessible from Cleobury Mortimer, Clee Hill, Tenbury Wells, Ludlow and Kidderminster.

I can now also offer virtual counselling via zoom and face time, reaching far and wide.

TESTIMONIALS

"I found you very professional, approachable and easy to talk to. I'd definitely recommend you to others."

"It has been an honour and a privilege being counselled by you, Clare."

"I just wanted to thank you very much for all the support and care that you have given me over the last year. It has made a massive difference to my way of coping. I won't forget you."

"I have learnt so much from you and now have the tools to dig myself out of the rut I found myself in. For this gift you have given me I shall be forever grateful."

"Thank you for everything. I'm in a really good place now. Yes I have to deal with temptations and stresses but that's life and you have taught me how to deal with it."

"thank you so much for all the help you have given me, I feel much comfortable in my own skin and self-aware. This has had a positive effect on my relationship"

Training, qualifications & experience

My counselling training is person centred and this is the basis of how I work, building a trusting therapeutic relationship in which positive change can take place.

I do integrate other skills and techniques when appropriate, such as:- elements of psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), transactional analysis (TA), and mindfulness.

I have a particular interest in addictions born out of personal experience. I have worked for Pathways to Recovery and Aquarius Shropshire in recent years, helping individuals over come the harms of alcohol.

I was a voluntary counsellor for North Worcestershire Bereavement Support (NWBS) for ten years, helping people deal with the loss of a loved one.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
