About me

Hello, I am Claire Miller, an experienced  Cognitive-Behavioural Therapist at Gemini Counselling. I specialise in supporting adults and teenagers experiencing anxiety, substance use challenges and neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism.

I understand that reaching out for support can feel like a big step. Your thoughts and feelings matter, and I will listen to you with empathy and respect to create a safe and supportive space where you feel heard and understood. Clients have described me as friendly, compassionate, and easy to talk to.  Using CBT, I can help you to deal more effectively with difficult thoughts and feelings to achieve a more balanced life and feel more in control. Together, we will work at your pace to explore challenges and achieve meaningful change.

Why CBT?

I chose to qualify in CBT because it is a highly effective, evidence-based approach that focuses on real, practical solutions rather than simply talking about problems. Unlike some therapies that explore the past in depth, CBT focuses on the present, giving you the tools required to effectively manage difficult thoughts and feelings and change unhelpful behaviours that can stem from these. CBT has been proven to create lasting positive change as you can benefit from the strategies learned long after your therapy has ended.

I specialise in supporting both adults and teenagers with:

- Anxiety: If you are feeling anxious and overwhelmed, I can help you to feel more calm, confident and in control when facing situations that you find challenging or in daily life more generally.

- Substance use: I can help you to regain control of your substance use, whether your goal is abstinence or a reduction in use. I also support those affected by a family member’s substance use.

- Neurodiversity: If you have, or suspect you have, Autism and /or ADHD and are having difficulty with things such as anxiety, emotional regulation, self - acceptance and executive functioning, I provide a safe and understanding space and can teach you practical strategies to help overcome these challenges.

Client Testimonials:

"Claire has created a supportive, non-judgmental environment where I can safely open up. Her approach is tailored to my needs and is balanced with empathy, appropriate humour, sensitivity and an alternative view where needed. Each session feels productive with a view to moving forward. Claire's vast knowledge offers many practical tasks and suggestions which are incredibly helpful for me to be mindful, understand my emotions and provide tools to improve. The work we do has made a significant impact on my life. "                                                                                               (L., female client, 39 yrs).

“I had been struggling with PTSD for 5 years and had not been able to find the right help, until I met Claire. From the very beginning she made me feel comfortable and at ease. She gave me exercises to do in my own time, so I could ease my symptoms, instead of trying to avoid them and make them worse. I now use these exercises whenever I need to and they have made a huge impact on my daily life. I am very grateful for her help and these sessions have truly changed my life. Thank you."                  (M., female client, 21 yrs).

“I found Claire very understanding and easy to talk to. She really helped me work on my issues with anxiety" (D., male client on the Autistic Spectrum, 24 yrs.)

“Having counselling with Claire has helped me so much. She is compassionate and non-judgemental, and this made it easier for me to talk about my drug use. She has helped me build my self-esteem and I now feel much more in control and am more confident that I can get through life without help from substances. I'm really grateful for her understanding and support, thanks so much.”  (N., female client, 36 yrs.)
